Hello, and welcome to the September issue of "The Anvil"!

Happy Birthday to us! Join us in our one-year celebration with this month's issue of The Anvil: Special for this issue are the results of the Harmonian Reader's Choice, along with three interviews of our picks for Harmonians of the Year. While you're there, check out our new editorial column and the latest news of Witherwings in The State of the Project Address. Along with all of those, we have our usual bevvy of fanfic, fanart, and essay recc's, with some fanvids and icons thrown in on the side, just for you. And since it's our birthday, you should check out the news, games, and owls - because we want you to, and we'll pout if you don't.

- Harmony Forever announced it's HarmonyCon Logo Winner on August 11th. The winner was herminia. You can view her design, here.

- Daniel Radcliffe recently gave an interview to The Herald Sun, where he discusses Equus and the HBP movie. You can read more here. Reported by HPANA on August 13th, 2006.

- Warner Bros. released new OotP dates for Spain and Australia. Spain will be able to see OotP July 20th, while Australia's date has been moved up from September 6th to July 12th. Reported by HPANA on August 21st, 2006.

- Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have both "aced" their recent exams. Emma recieved eight A*s and two As on her GCSEs, while Daniel recieved three As in his AS-levels. Reported by HPANA on August 24th, 2006.

- Daniel Radcliffe will star in ITV movie "My Boy Jack"; which is a true story about Rudyard Kipling and his son Jack, who was killed in WWI. Filming starts next summer, and is expected to be shown on ITV the following fall. Reported by HPANA on August 27th, 2006.

- Spook_Me is hosting a Multi-Fandom Halloween Ficathon. Sign-ups end September 12th. For more information and to participate, go here.

- The Harmony Podcast was updated twice this month, on August 10th and 11th. Podcast #14 Part One's transcript is available, here. Part Two's is available, here. You can upload the latest podcasts on iTunes, or listen to it here. HTV was not updated at all this month, but you can download past episodes here.

- Jordan has put out a call for authors and editors for the Book 6 Project. Authors can apply here, and editors/betas can apply here.

- Adverbially is a new drabble prompt community. They don't seem to be getting many participants, so be sure to head on over there and help out.

- HPANA, along with some other HP fans, got a sneak-peek from EA Games at the new Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix video game. You can read the report of the new game, here.

Because my opinion is, if you've survived the last year of taunting, JKR ambiguity, boasting, and overall-mockage, then Time is the fickle friend, not your devotion. And it's mainly because of the friends we have all made through this hard time, all connected through a common ideology: Choosing what's right, over what's easy. Variety is the spice of life - go ahead and read other books, write some other fandom-fiction. Your interests may change, but your friendships will not - and that's the beauty of Harmony.

Last month's question was: With the one-year anniversary of HBP just passing, what are your perceptions of the book, now?

myrhlyn: "I feel a lot better about it, actually; and much more optimistic. A lot of this has to do with essays that have been written since then, but also that 'time' does give some perspective."

AnndeeGranger: "Well, I don't dislike it so much for the shipping issues. When you really look at it, there are quite a few H/Hr moments. They just aren't anvil-sized obvious."

fred: "One year later, my opinion on HBP hasn't changed. This book is in my opinion one of the worst piece of fiction I have ever read. Not only do I find the writing incredibly rushed and botched, but nothing in the plot makes sense considering the previous books. The prophecy that was so important that some people nearly gave their lives to protect it doesn't mean anything in the end, replaced by a scavenger hunt, Sirius whose death was supposed to have broken Rowling's heart is suddenly forgotten. Those attractives teenagers either became total prats or are shoved back into the background."
